A series of nine sequences shows the exchange of various materials between the artist and members of his immediate family: his mother, father, and sister. Filmed under a beam of natural light filtering through the window into the artist’s studio, the gestures accompany the movement of the sun’s rays as the substance of the exchange permeates the hands and gradually diminishes with each transfer. These attempts to retain both substance and light evoke the ephemeral nature of reunions and the reciprocity of transmission.
