2021, slide projection, 3 b&w images in loop

A slide projector alternately displays three images, similar and yet totally different at once. Each one is the result of the same gesture made by Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza from the three versions of the Lumière brothers’ film entitled “La Sortie de l’usine Lumière à Lyon”, dating from 1895. The artist froze each one, leaving the shutter of his camera open while the film was running. The moving crowd becomes ghostly.
